School Evacuation Tuesday, December 6th
Tuesday, December 6, 2022 -
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We wanted to keep you informed of some activity this afternoon at Blueberry School for those that attended despite buses not running. Our day was interrupted by an unexpected alarm.
A heat sensor activated the fire alarm during the afternoon of Tuesday, December 6th. The Stony Plain Fire Department responded and Parkland School Division's Facilities Services were on scene as well. The building was evacuated as precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of all students and staff. Great job by everyone and a big thank you goes out to the St. John's Lutheran Church across the street for giving us a warm place to wait until the building was given an 'all clear' to resume our day.
We’d like to encourage all our families to familiarize themselves with our school and Division’s Emergency Response Procedures, in the event serious emergencies.
Thanks to the Stony Plain Fire Department and Parkland School Division’s Facilities Services staff for the quick response. We are committed to providing safe and caring places for all students to learn. As a reminder, during emergency situations where a building evacuation is necessary, safety of students and staff is the first priority and that means exiting the building as fast as possible.
Students may not always have an opportunity to stop at lockers or gather personal belongings. Vacating a building as quickly as possible is of paramount importance.
